Open Campus (The New School) — case study

Positioned creative education as future-proofing—connecting career growth to the skills needed for what’s next.

The Challenge

The New School’s Open Campus offers continuing education for professionals looking to build new creative skills. But reaching a working, career-focused audience required more than promoting courses—it required reframing education as a tool for growth, reinvention, and future-readiness.

Core challenge:

How do you engage working professionals with the idea of going back to school—by making creative education feel relevant, strategic, and essential for the future of work?

Overview

Client: The New School (Open Campus / Parsons) Agency: Creative Circle Role: Copywriter & Content Strategist Project: Thought leadership content and integrated marketing assets Platform: Editorial, Print, Experiential, Digital

Insight

Professionals don’t go back to school for credentials—they go back for momentum.

To resonate, the messaging needed to shift from academic offering to career acceleration—grounded in the realities of a rapidly evolving workforce.

Approach

We built a content ecosystem designed to educate, inspire, and activate.

  • Content Strategy: Thought leadership rooted in future-of-work trends
  • Messaging: Career growth, adaptability, and creative confidence
  • Tone: Smart, optimistic, and forward-looking
  • Formats: Multi-channel assets designed for both consumption and interaction

Each piece was created to meet professionals where they are—and move them closer to action.

Cover of the “Creative Tools for the Savvy Professional” booklet: the OPEN CAMPUS lockup on grid paper beside a red angular shape carrying the title.
“The Futurist’s Guide to Workforce Preparedness” — a red angular title shape over a photo of a woman at a wall of sticky notes, with the line “Design-savvy professionals will prosper in the future.”

The Idea

Position creative education as a competitive advantage in the future of work.

A system of content that reframes learning as essential—not optional—in a world shaped by constant change.

Execution

Editorial Series: Thought Leadership at Scale

Developed and wrote a series of long-form articles designed to inform and inspire:

  • The Futurist’s Guide to Workforce Preparedness
  • A Guide to Visualizing Your Career Growth
  • The Futurist’s Guide to Cultivating an Entrepreneurial Environment
  • The Futurist’s Guide to Building a Solid Online Brand

Each article translated complex trends into clear, actionable insights—positioning Open Campus as a forward-thinking authority.

Print: Interactive Networking Experience

Collaborated with design to create a 10-page interactive booklet:

  • “Creative Tools for Savvy Professionals”
  • Designed for use at networking events
  • Prompted users to respond to creative questions and engage with others

The result: a branded experience that turned passive networking into active participation.

Infographic: Visualizing the Future of Work

Created an infographic titled: “Leaders and Organizations Shaping the Workforce of Tomorrow—Starts Today”

Grounded in the concept of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the piece:

  • Positioned design as a critical driver of future innovation
  • Simplified complex ideas into a clear, visual narrative
  • Reinforced the urgency and relevance of creative skill-building
“A Guide to Visualizing Your Career Growth” — a red angular title shape over a photo of a workshop wall covered in sticky notes, with the line “Keep your career fresh and on an upward trajectory.”
“A Futurist’s Guide to Cultivating an Entrepreneurial Environment” — a red angular title shape over a photo of a smiling man, with the line “Three steps to activating workplace innovation.”
“The Futurist’s Guide to Building a Solid Online Brand” — a red angular title shape over a photo of “Learning About You” worksheets pinned to a wall, with the line “Marketing your personal and professional brands, skills, and experience.”
The “Leaders and Organizations, Shaping the Workforce of Tomorrow Starts Today” infographic: “#1 The Issue” lays out the 4th Industrial Revolution and its drivers, and “#2 The Solution” argues the answer is through design.
